Full Course Description:
This is a great class if you’re interested in competition shooting, or if you’re new to concealed carry and want to have real-world skills for defensive guns use.
You’ll get tons of trigger time in our SIRT/BladeTech DryFire Zone. We start you off with our SIRT (Shot Indicating Resetting Trigger) laser pistols and BladeTech competition holsters. We’ll send you home with not only the skills needed to safely compete but also safe holster and dry-fire practice drills that you can do at home to maintain and enhance your self-defense skills. The best part of the class is the follow up when you’re actually on the range shooting your first competition.
This 4-hour class (plus one evening of actual competition a $30.00 value) and will cover:
•Equipment selection and choosing a USPSA (United States Practical Shooting Association) division for competition.
•Basics of range safety.
•Safely drawing from a holster.
•Safe and efficient magazine changes.
•Marksmanship skills for competition shooting.
•Moving and shooting.
•Engaging multiple targets
•Breaking down a course of fire.
•Finding local competition.
On the week after your classroom training, you’ll be invited to shoot your first competition at Fox Valley Shooting Range, under the guidance of your instructors.
Students will provide their own safe firearm (appropriate for competition) and safe holster for their model pistol, as well as a 3 to 5 extra magazines and mag pouches. All students may use our equipment in class free of charge and rent one of our complete rigs for range use in competition for $50.00 (please let us know when registering for the class if you will need to use our equipment) . If you’re not sure what you need, check with the pro staff at Fox Valley Shooting Range. We can get you everything you need for the class and for competition. No firearms ammunition needed for the classroom portion, but for the range portion we suggest 100 to 200 rounds of ammunition. We ask that you purchase ammo at the range. Due to safety concerns and competition rules, shoulder holsters, inside the waistband, and small of the back holsters will not be permitted.
